Frequently Asked Questions

Is Rankeez really free?

Yes. Website lookups, the Top Websites list and the JSON API are all free, with no account, no API key and no rate-limit tricks.

Why is my domain missing or shows 'insufficient traffic'?

Rankeez only ranks domains that appear in at least one of our source signals (Tranco, Majestic, DomCop, Umbrella, cross-validated against CommonCrawl and CrUX). Very new or very low-traffic sites may not appear in any of them yet — this doesn't mean your site has zero visitors, just that it's below the measurable threshold of these datasets. See Methodology.

How often is the ranking updated?

Every month, automatically. See the Methodology page for the exact schedule and formula.

What replaced Alexa Rank?

Alexa Internet shut down its ranking service in 2022. Rankeez was built specifically to fill that gap with a free, transparent alternative.

Can I get historical rank data or an API key with higher limits?

Not yet — today the API is a simple free, unauthenticated endpoint. If you need something more advanced, reach out.

How do I look up a domain via API?

See the API documentation — it's a single GET request returning JSON.
