軸流送風機や遠心送風機と呼ばれるファンがあります。ターボファンとシロッコファンのことです。その２種類は同じ原理です。円柱状の羽根車は周りに羽根を等間隔で配置してあります。回転することで遠心力が働き軸から外側へ空気が流れます。吸い込み口と吐き出し口が90度違う向きを向いています。シロッコファンは細かな羽根が並んでいる構造です。もう一方のファンの方が羽根は大きく、少ない枚数で大きな風量を扱うことができます。大きめの厨房、乾燥機などの小型なものから、ビルの排気や熔炉への空気の押し込み、ボイラー室などに使われます
